Pricey true, but a lot of people end up with less for the same money. I like the 802's and there's always the "make offer" option. No affiliation.
On second thought there's some mod 14's on CL for 550.00. How would they compare? Again...no affiliation.
15's are good. 14's are MUCH better.
Acoustically, the solid wood is probably a step backward from the stock MDF, and IMNSHO, i'd MUCH rather have factory veneer over that straight cut red Oak, that's what i burn for firewood.
I have an absolutely beautiful pair of empty walnut 15 cabs with grills just as nice that i'd let go very cheap.

When you look at the 550 pair on CL, think in terms of having $325 to fix them up. For me a no brainer.
